FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I DO NOT LIVE IN THE LOS ANGELES AREA. CAN I STILL ATTEND?

Yes. We have hosted students from across California, nationally, and even internationally. All students are welcome to attend. However, for those living further away, please be mindful of any current travel orders and/or restrictions and be sure to have a copy of your vaccination records when traveling.

IS THERE AN AGE REQUIREMENT FOR PARTICIPATING?

We accept students as young as 7 years old into our Program. They must, however, be 7 years old by the start of the program and have at least one year of ballet training.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH AGE GROUP AUDITION TO ATTEND?

Dancers should attend the audition for the age group that corresponds to their age at the time of the audition.

WHAT IF I AM NOT ABLE TO ATTEND THE AUDITION?

Students who are unable to attend the scheduled audition can submit a video audition. Please see the above section regarding video auditions.

IS THERE A DISADVANTAGE TO AUDITIONING BY VIDEO?

While an in-person audition is preferred, there are no disadvantages to auditioning by video. Students are held to the same standards whether auditioning in-person or by video.

DO I NEED TO SUBMIT A PROFESSIONAL HEADSHOT?

No. Your headshot does not need to be taken by a professional. But we do ask that the student be clearly recognizable in the photo as it will be used by our artistic staff to identify students during the admissions consideration process.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE AUDITION?

Female students should wear a black leotard with pink or skin-toned tights and pink or skin-toned ballet shoes. Hair should be pulled back neatly into a ballet bun. Dancers 12+ who are on pointe should also bring their pointe shoes.

Male students should wear a white leotard or shirt with black or grey tights and black or white ballet shoes. Hair should be brushed back neatly and off the face.

IF I AM ACCEPTED, CAN I REQUEST AN EXTENSION TO HOLD MY SPOT?

Registration for our Summer Intensive program is on a first come-first served basis and will close once classes have reached capacity. Students wishing to attend the program that have missed the registration deadline may be placed on a waiting list.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO ATTEND ONLY SOME WEEKS?

Yes. Our Summer Intensive structure allows for flexibility to accommodate the full and varied schedules of our dancers. Students may choose 1, 2, 3, or 4 weeks, selecting whichever combination of week(s) work best for them. (e.g. a dancer may choose to attend only Weeks 1 and 4, etc.).

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?

Deposits and tuitions are non-refundable even in the event of the student’s withdrawal or dismissal from the program before it has begun. LABA does not offer any tuition refunds for missed classes.
